My name is Martin and this is my website. My goal is to keep this page concise and readable. You can find details and artifacts on linked external pages.
Since December of 2024, I have worked for an autonomous vehicle company. My role is to design and implement autonomy algorithms. I read in a Sharepoint document created by the CTO that my job title is "Applied Math / Software", which sounds about right. I am based in Huntsville, AL.
In my wild and misspent youth, I studied mathematics in SLO and Goleta. At Cal Poly (and one summer at Clemson), I focused on combinatorics. Just before UCSB, I went to Brazil. At UCSB, I focused on functional analysis, linear algebra (yes), convex geometry and optimization. My advisor at UCSB was Mihai Putinar.
You can find some of what I wrote here, or on the arXiv.
I grew up in the seaside village of El Granada. As a teenager, I worked as a camp counselor, swim instructor and lifeguard. I was good at skateboarding. Despite my hometown's surf culture, I started surfing only in Santa Barbara. In my junior year, my hand-built ceramic figure won the Surreal Creature Contest.
The name "reamstack" means nothing to me and I think it sounds macho or something. Nope! It refers to a stack of stacks of white printer paper, my constant companion for more than three decades.
